The Secret of the Centara Karon Resort Phuket
Written by Administrator    Wednesday, 13 March 2013 13:09    PDF Print E-mail

Appearances can be deceiving, at least upon entering Centara Karon Resort Phuket. At first glance you might think that it's a small resort with one main building, a pool and a restaurant. But the resort is actually made up of four residential zones - The Terraces, The Lagoon, Tropicale, and The Cabanas – for a total of 315 rooms in a large landscaped area, complimented by 20 cabanas scattered around the grounds. The Terraces offer newly refurbished superior and superior ocean view rooms together with four delightfully appointed deluxe honeymoon rooms complete with their own oversized terrace and private outdoor sunken Jacuzzi tub. The Terraces itself is a nine-story-high building offering guests
spectacular views of the resort's gardens, Karon Beach, & Karon's city skyline. Accommodation at The Lagoon includes spacious deluxe rooms many of which have two double beds, which are ideal for family holidays accommodating up to two adults and two children with ease. Deluxe family studio rooms offer even greater comfort and space. The Tropicale zone is especially designed for travellers seeking a more luxurious and inclusive vacation experience. Guests enjoy a nightly turndown service and the exclusive use of the Club Lounge serving daytime snacks and pastries, allday tea and coffee, evening cocktails and snacks, all complimentary. Additionally,
the lounge offers newspapers, reading materials and free Internet access. The Cabanas are set within a garden location offering total privacy together with all the comfort and service expected from a premium room category. Each has its own private plunge pool and terrace. All the air-conditioned rooms, suites, and villas are tastefully decorated in contemporary Thai style. Each have a private balcony or terrace and offer amenities designed for comfort. All rooms have colour TV with satellite channels and in-house movies, in-house music, a refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, an IDD telephone, and a washroom with bath and shower.

After a lazy day on the beach, meander back to the resort, enjoying some bargain hunting on the way from the cluster of shops that line the walkway: souvenirs, jewellery and clothing are all to be found at excellent prices.
For the night, stepping out can be quite an occasion! Nightlife abounds within & around the resort. Enjoy sunset cocktails, Karaoke and evening entertainment from the resident band at The Mix bar and for late-night fun head for Patong, a quick shuttle bus ride from the resort.
Should you be taking a holiday but still have business to attend to a range of meeting facilities are at your beck and call including a TV video projector, a screen, slide projector, white board, flip chart, and LCD projector. Indeed, the resort provides a great excuse to combine your business with pleasure.
"Value for money," is what GM Darren Shaw says distinguishes the Centara Karon Resort Phuket, "whether it is our food & beverage prices, our spa packages, or our room rates. We're in an ideal location too; you can walk out the front gate and find all kinds of restaurants, bars, and shops, even a supermarket, but when you come back into the resort you have sense of tranquillity, especially if you are staying in one of the cabanas. At any given time, we could have 700 guests in house but because we are so spread out over so many rai, you don't have the feeling of overcrowding. Our staff is also very friendly, very down to earth."
The resort's three swimming pool complexes are only minutes from any guest room. The pool at the Terrace tends to caters to adults, while the Lagoon with it fun slide tends to be best for kids and families while the pool in the Tropicale caters to all ages. Each pool has its own swim-up pool bar and the Lagoon has its own restaurant as well, Azure.
There's also a sports centre with a host of recreational activities including two floodlit tennis courts, a fully-equipped gymnasium, snooker and darts. To unwind after a workout, enjoy treatments at the SPA Cenvaree, which includes a steam room and sauna. The spa offers pampering treatments that are both relaxing and good for you (www. spacenvaree.com). The resort tries hard to be environmentally conscious, receiving silver certification from Earth Check, and it collects its rainwater to water the grounds. It is also working on it s ISO14001 certification.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30pm there's a Thai cooking class staged at the Lotus restaurant for Bt1,500. This includes a souvenir chef's hat and apron, a three-course lunch with wine and a certificate of participation. Chef Philippe's Thai menu favourites include steamed snapper in lemon juice with chilli and garlic, deep-fried fish in pepper and garlic, massaman chicken, red duck (duck curry), and coconut soup with banana. The resort also offers the very cool "rent a chef" option whereby a staff chef comes and grill for you, if your are staying in one of the cabanas.
The resort doesn't just want its guests to stay on the property; it also encourages them to see Phuket and organizes trips to James Bond Island, Big Buddha, Phuket Town, Jungceylon, Khai Island, and Siam Niramit. For the more adventurous minded, elephant trekking, go-kart racing, seacanoeing, shooting, ATV riding, bungee jumping and a trip to see a Thai boxing match can also be arranged.
